Temperature in Stamford set to plunge to -6C at around 6am tomorrow

Stamford could see temperatures plunge to -4C tonight and as low as -6C at around 6am tomorrow according to the Met Office.

Although no more snow is forecast for the town, the temperature is expected to peak at a chilly 0C around mid-afternoon tomorrow.

Motorists are being warned that there will be ice and and fog until at least 3pm.

Lincolnshire County Council gritters will be taking to the roads again tonight.

Wittering weather station, the nearest to Stamford, reported that yesterday the area experienced the sixth largest snowfall in the UK - with an impressive six inches.

South Kesteven District Council has said that unless the weather situation improves 'significantly' silver recycling bin collections in Stamford will be cancelled again tomorrow.
