Stamford's Blockbuster store has been spared in the first round of closures of the game and film rental chain.

So far 160 stores have been earmarked for closure across the UK.

Administrators Deloitte were called in on January 15 putting over 4,000 jobs at risk at around 500 stores nationwide.

The Ironmonger Street store will continue to trade as normal while a buyer is sought for the business.

Blockbuster suffered a plunge in profits and the company had a deficit of £11.2m in 2012.
